The Book Fair and a Test!

In writing today Mrs. Ziegler did a circle map about lemons and then turned it into a tree map. (Katie Grace)
We took our End of Quarter math test! (Katy D.)
We went to art and we didn't finish our people but we started doing the pants and the shirt. (Katherine)
Today we went to the used book fair. (Piper)
Kindergartner's came to lunch early today. (Caroline)
Today I had to do some math over again. (Marcelo)
Next week we are going to do student of the week. (Vivien)
Tomorrow we are going to have a writing test. (Zachary)
We had to skip shared reading because we went back to the used book fair. (William)

Apples and Rain

Today after book buddies we went to the music room and played games for our specials. (Joel)
We have to cancel tomorrow's field trip because it is supposed to rain! (Marcelo)
In science we got in groups and made a plan for the habitat murals that we will begin tomorrow. (Katie Grace, Caroline and Mrs. Ziegler)
In writing we did our first flow map. (Troupe)
Today in math for our morning work we worked on a little apple math book. (Harrison)
Today was Katherine's birthday and she brought cupcakes for lunch! (Caroline and Vivien)
In shared reading we learned about what a sequence is by reading a book about apples. (Piper)
In math we used the active board to figure out what comes next in a pattern and then we had to rename the pattern. (Zach)
In phonics and word block we wrote word wall words in our W.W.W. books. (Ian)

We went to art and we worked on drawing our face. (Katherine)

We Went on a Nature Walk!

In computer we dressed people and we made 40 cents using coins. (Katherine)
We went outside for science on a nature walk and used our five senses to explore the woods. (Warner)
Today Ian taught the class about vowels. (Vivien)
Ian read a book called The War between Vowels and Consonants. (Marcelo)
Today we had a spelling test on "ot" words. (Troupe)
We played a subtraction game called Busy Bee's on the active board. (Katie Grace)
We took a subtraction test during math today. (William)

October 13th, 2011

We have officially finished with all of our star student interviews! Now we can start blogging at the end of every day. Yay! (Whole Class)
Today while we were in music we learned how to sing a lullaby in spanish and french. (Piper)
Now we will start having a Star Student of the Week! (Katherine)
We got to use the active board to make words with our short vowels. (Troupe)
We watched a video about animals living in the north and south poles. Santa Clause was in the video! (Sydney)
We wrote in our science journals about the things we have learned about the polar regions. (Caroline)
We got a new T.V. this week! (Joel)
We did not get to do our outdoor science lesson today because it rained. Boo Hoo! (Katy D.)
It seemed like there was an on and off switch for the rain today. (William)
Today we practiced using pictures to help us solve subtraction problems. (Vivien)
We have been learning about cause and effect so today we read If you Give a Pig a Pancake. (Warner)
We counted by two's all the way to 50 on the hundred's board. (Rafa)
William counted to 15 in spanish yesterday. (Marcelo)

Learning about deserts and evaporation

In science we painted water on the sidewalk and we watched it evaporate. (Maizie)

We learned about evaporation because we learned that water evaporates more quickly in the desert. (Rafa)
Marcelo gave Mrs. Ziegler a great book connection that she will share with the class tomorrow. (Warner)
